Saturday, January 23, 10am – Noon, Tu B'Shevat Family Seder. Rabbi Benjamin Weiner will lead us in this exploration of "Jewish arbor day." This celebration of spring--which comes earlier in Israel--includes a snack of fruits, nuts and other goodies, and an appreciation of everything our earth provides. Open to all ages. Saturday, January 30, 5:30pm – 9:00pm (7:30pm – 9:00pm for those participating only in the dessert/havdallah/party portion), New Member Dinner/Welcome Party. Don’t miss this opportunity to make new friends within the congregation. Established members will host a new member family for dinner, and then the entire congregation will gather at the church at 7:30pm for a big, potluck dessert, havdallah, and family-friendly getting-to-know-you activity. Thursday, February 4, 7:30pm – 9:30pm, Winter Beit Midrash Series, Session 3: Holiness/Kedusha in the Talmud and Midrash.

Saturday, February 6th, 10 am-- Noon, She'arim Shabbat. Join us for a communal Shabbat morning service of learning and celebration, hosted by She'arim/Gateways. All are welcome – tots to seniors – and those with or without children in the She’arim/Gateways. There will be break-out sessions with our educators for kids aged pre-K to sixth grade, intellectual and spiritual explorations for adults and teens, and singing and fun for everyone all together. A pot-luck oneg will follow the service. Feel free to stop by and check it out!

Saturday, February 6th, 7:30 pm Jews in Sports Havdallah.  Details to follow.

Sunday, February 7, 10am – Noon, Knitting Circle Social Action Project. This year, we are making a blanket for the Linus Project, which provides blankets to hospitalized children. This is a cozy, multi-generational activity. No previous knitting experience required. If possible, bring your own yarn and needles, but there also will be extras available. We will meet at Monica’s house. If you need directions or more information, please contact Monica at monicaian@aol.com. Next knitting circle: March 7.

Friday, February 12, 7pm – Saturday, February 13, 2am, Teen Midnight Run. One Mishkan Ha’am adult and 2-4 teens are needed to join the Unitarian Society on its monthly Midnight Run. This volunteer opportunity includes packing food, organizing clothes and toiletries, then going into the city to hand out these items to homeless people and have the chance to interact with them. If you are interested in participating on February 12 Midnight Run or March 28 Breakfast Run, please contact Joyce at joyceblue@optonline.net .

Sunday, February 14, 11:30am – 2:00pm, Tikkun Olam Opportunity: Serving Lunch at the Sharing Community. We are continuing our monthly commitment to the Sharing Community, a homeless shelter and soup kitchen in Yonkers. Four volunteers (who can be as young as 12 as long as one adult is present) will serve lunch to up to 200 hungry people. If you're interested, please contact Harriet at hpstein1@aol.com .
